The influence of Christian Dior in the world of fashion is packed in Patrick Demarchelier’s book Dior Couture.
Established in 1947, by Dior, the fashion house’s initial concept was to introduce a different approach to style, by challenging and changing the post WWII perception of fashion. Often criticised for his sometimes extravagant creations, Monsieur Dior was quoted saying that ‘To manufacture emotion, a man must have a working agreement with madness.’, this is a theme that was visibly given continuity by his successors, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and John Galliano.
In the coffee table book edition, renown fashion photographer Lemarchellier, represents us a hundred pictures where fashion and photography come together and transport us to Dior’s Universe; place where the chic-classic look comes with a zest of eccentricity.
After being paid homage by some of the biggest names in the media industry, such as Galliano, Morrissey, and Kanye West with his ‘Christian Dior Denim Flow’ single, the artistic genius of Dior lives on.
