For the first time, Temperley London and Alice by Temperley were combined to present one collection. Something Alice Temperley observed was “was great to focus solely on an amazing show collection with more daywear, core pieces and loads of very versatile separates,”
The result? Something different and unusually sexy.
First of all let us talk about the idea of the matching trousers and jackets in checks- worn with the brand’s first ever collection of trainers. This deserves a moment. Not because the Temperley woman has gone through a transformation but because she can pull it off due to the way Alice Temperley merged tailoring ,romanticism and sleek aesthetics.
The key words for this collection were “sexy” and “versatile” whereas the other source of inspiration was shunga, the Japanese art. Could that explain the presence of the low key sexyness? “I was inspired by colour and print from very naughty Japanese paintings, woodblock prints, surreal sea creatures and lots of mixing of layers and kimono references with our looks both for day and evening” Temperley told Vogue.
