Protecting your skin from extreme weather changes by switching its care regime according to the seasons is highly recommended. As we are now dealing with the cold seasons, here are ten top tips to keep your skin healthy looking and glowing.

Before applying any of these products, ensuring that your hands are clean is a must. Equally, knowing the skin type you belong to will facilitate the process of product selection.

I. Cleansers

Use these twice a day for better results. Once in the morning and at night. Apply a small amount and focus on the T-zone, where most of the dirt reside. Wash off using cool water- not too cold.

II. Face toners

To get rid of remaining traces of make-up, use a face toner straight after using a cleanser. A face toner should be used once a day. Depending on the brand or type you are using, a good face toner should help soothe and moisturise your skin while making it feel refreshed.


III. Face masks

Depending on what skin problem you are looking to tackle, it is advised to use a face mask once a week or less. There is a variety to choose from, with instructions that are easy to follow. Remember that timing is key and stay hydrated by drinking, ideally, water.

IV. Exfoliator

Depending on how strong the exfoliator of your choice is, it can be used once on a daily basis or once a week. It’s a great way to wash away dead skin cells and dirt that may resist a normal daily cleansing.

All skin types can benefit from moisturising, using a product that is adaptable to the specific skin’s needs.

VI. Night cream

Although not always necessary, night creams or serums are the best way to repair your skin while you sleep and are dealing with less stress. They are particularly effective when treating specific skin problems such as acne, wrinkles and scars..

VII. Eye care

Wrinkles, fatigue, puffiness, dark circle? Nothing a good eye cream can’t handle. Using it once in the morning and once before sleep will help hydrate the eye area. A useful tip is to apply a small amount on ring finger and tap it around the eye area until the cream or serum’s been absorbed.


VIII. Lip Exfoliator

Once a week, for only a few minutes, find time to exfoliate your lips and get rid of the lips’ dead skin. You can use a purchasable lip scrub or make your own by mixing sugar and olive oil. Apply the product on your lips for 15 minutes, rinse off and apply a lip balm of your choice.

During cold seasons, your hands become even more vulnerable due to the wind and the sudden change of temperature that our body go through (from the icy outdoors to the warm indoors). Keeping them hydrated and covered whenever possibly helps.
